Five killed in suicide bomb attack at Karachi mosque Karachi (dpa) - Five people were killed and over a dozen injured in a suicide bombing at a mosque used by Shiite Moslems in Pakistan's port city of Karachi Monday evening, police officials said."Those killed in the bombing included the attacker, one of his two accomplices, a private security guard, a police official and a civilian," police official Tariq Jameel told Deutsche Presse Agentur dpa.Jameel said the bomber walked into the mosque during evening prayers and blew himself up when a police official on security duty intercepted him.An accomplice was killed in an exchange of fire with security officials outside the mosque while a third sustained serious injuries.(Posted @ 21:50 PST) JI leader Aslam Mujahid assassinated KARACHI, May 30 (APP): Former MNA and Naib Amir Jamaat Islami Karachi, Aslam Mujahid was assassinated and his body was recovered from the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area Police Station here Monday.Police said that his body bore four bullet marks. Mahmood,78 , was famed for taking 12 wickets at the Oval ground in London in Pakistan's first year in Test cricket in the 1954, as well as in the country's two inaugural wins at Lucknow, India. Mahmood, also a police officer, played 34 Tests, taking 139 wickets and also led Pakistan in 10 Test matches between 1952 and 1962. The President never made any such statement, Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani told the weekly media briefing. He was responding to reports in which the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had welcomed remarks attributed to President Musharraf on autonomy to a part of Kashmir. The militants were shot dead in two clashes in southern Udhampur and Anantnag districts late Sunday, a police spokesman said. The bullet-riddled bodies of two civilians were recovered overnight Sunday from a ditch near the town of Tral, 40 kilometers south of Srinagar, he said. "Both were abducted by militants and later shot dead," the spokesman alleged, adding one of them was a former militant. No group has claimed responsibility for the latest killings.
