KARACHI: Adviser warns against funds embezzlement

KARACHI, May 22: Sindh Health Adviser Faisal Malik on Sunday highlighted the significance of controlling embezzlement of funds, provided by international donor agencies, for extending better health facilities in the province.

This could help provide timely treatment to women giving birth thus reducing the high birth-mortality rate, Mr Malik said in an interview with the electronic media.

He said the present government was focussing on health and education and the upcoming budget promised healthy incentives for the two sectors.

The adviser said that the improved security and image of Sindh was also attracting foreign investment, however he warned that the government would not allow representatives of donor agencies to live a lavishly on the funds provided for poor.

He advised them to take provincial governments into confidence before undertaking any development.—PPI
