KARACHI: Relief cell for property seekers


KARACHI, May 20: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed setting up a relief cell under the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), besides Karachi Building Control Authority. The cell will provide relief to people not given possession of land despite making payment to builders as well as in respect of other complaints.Speaking at a meeting held in relation with construction industry at the governor’s house here on Friday, the governor directed the KBCA chief to collect details of the people by June 30 who could not get possession of flats despite payment.

He warned those illegally occupying legal properties of people to vacate the same immediately.

He directed the concerned authorities to get the illegally occupied flats vacated with determination of priority and chalk out a strategy for handing over the same to their rightful allottees.

Dr Ishratul Ibad issued directives for launching an organised campaign to make the people well aware about the affects of sale and purchase in disputed properties.

He said while entering into cheaper bargains, they should particularly ascertain the status of concerned flat or plot.

It was decided that people who could not get possession or allotment on government land for years despite making payment thereof, should be given alternate allotment in new schemes.

The meeting considered the issues relating to Hyderabad Development Authority and builders and governor issued necessary directives for resolving the issue of HDA’s Governing Body.

On the occasion, decision was taken for setting up a special anti-encroachment cell and police station under the Local Government on the pattern of one in Karachi.

The meeting was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, Industries Minister Adil Siddiqi, Advisor Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government, DCOs Karachi and Hyderabad, DG HDA, representatives of ABAD and other officials.—APP
