PSF bans Farhan for six months
ISLAMABAD, May 12: The disciplinary committee of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) on Thursday slapped a six-month domestic and International ban on young Farhan Mahboob for breaching discipline, officials said. The former Asian junior champion was also fined Rs 25,000 following his brawl last month with coach Rehmat Khan, who was let off with a warning, squash secretary Wng Cdr Zulfiqar Ahmed said.
For Farhan, the writing was on the wall after he was barred on Wednesday from taking part in the main round of the PSF Cup in Abbottabad.
Both Farhan and Rehmat will have 14 days to appeal. If they choose to do so, it will be discussed and decided in the executive committee of the PSF.
Speaking to Dawn, a dejected Farhan said that he will quit the game for good and will not pay any fine for this verdict was just not acceptable to him.
I appeal to the PSF to ban me for six years instead of six months, he remarked angrily. Farhans father Mahboob Khan was equally upset.
“On the one had the federation claims that they have no players while on the other talented players like my son are being victimized.
Rehmat is out to spoil the careers of players in my family. He is a coach who knows nothing” he alleged.
The ugly incident between Farhan and Rehmat occurred when the players refused to obey his coach who had ordered him to go for a round of jogging as part of routine training. It led to a shouting match and a scuffle.
