Dist councils asked to prepare budgets

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, May 7: The Punjab government has asked the district councils in the province to prepare their budgets for the next financial year. Dawn learnt here on Saturday that the order was given after a slight delay due to the local government election which was earlier scheduled for April/May.

Under the directive conveyed to the district councils, they have been asked to finalize their budgetary proposals by the end of current month.

The approval of budget would help new district governments which would be formed by August 14 as announced by the government as they would have funds at their disposal.
