ISLAMABAD:Closer ties with India a must for regional peace, prosperity
ISLAMABAD, April 30: Pakistan and India being the largest economies in South Asia can bring prosperity to the region by enhancing cooperation in this field.
This was stated by H.A. Halim, leader of a 25-member delegation of Bengal Initiative from India, while attending a briefing at the Board of Investment (BoI) here on Saturday.
BoI Chairman Wasim Haqqi briefed the delegation on investment opportunities in oil and gas, energy, IT and telecommunication, construction, housing, hotel industry, manufacturing and mining sectors of Pakistan.
He gave an overview of the government’s investment policies, their various aspects and facets and the positive impact these had made on Pakistan’s economy.
He specifically highlighted the role of women in country’s politics and economy.
Mr Haqqi also highlighted the healthy results the economy was showing due to good governance and civil service, tax reforms and strengthening of democracy.
The Bengal Initiative delegation representing cross section of the Indian society includes industrialists, businessmen, corporate advisors, intellectuals and artists, who are currently on a study tour of Pakistan to learn about its domestic and foreign policies.—APP
