Only Cholistanis to get land allotment

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, April 20: Only the bona fide Cholistanis have the right to allotment of land in Cholistan while strict action will be taken on any complaint of injustice in this regard. This was stated by Punjab Colonies Minister Mian Manazir Ali Ranjha at a briefing session in the office of Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) managing director Maj-Gen Abdul Razzaq (retired).

The minister said the allotment of land in Cholistan should be continued in a transparent manner. He warned that officials found involved in the bogus allotment would be taken to task.

The minister on the complaints of MPAs asked the CDA managing director to probe into the alleged wrong land allotments. He directed to wipe out landgrabbers in Cholistan.

In his briefing, the CDA managing director said that except for one all the illegal occupants had been ejected. He said that around 27,000 acres of land had been retrieved from landgrabbers while damages to the tune of Rs8 million had also been recovered from them.

Mr Razzaq said that some 13,000 Cholistanis had been allotted 150,000 acres of land while about 400,000 acres were available for further allotment in the desert.
