LARKANA: PML-N leader criticizes army rule

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, April 19: The president of the Sindh chapter of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy, Mr Zain Ansari, has alleged Gen Pervez Musharraf ousted Nawaz Sharif at a time when he was about to announce a commission to probe into the Kargil incident.

Speaking at a reception hosted by local Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Ashiq Kalhoro here on Tuesday, he claimed that Kargil causalities exceeded the losses Pakistan had suffered in the 1965 war. He added that the elected government was toppled to stop the formation of the commission.

He termed the government’s claim that the constitution had been fully restored in the country an eyewash.

He said PML-N leader Jawed Hashmi had committed no crime but he was sent behind bars. He accused President Gen Musharraf of violating the constitution.

Mr Ansari said the struggle of the ARD would continue till restoration of democracy in the country.

He said Nawaz Sharif would return to the country in 2005. He said his party did not recognize the National Security Council. He observed that Gen Musharraf had failed to implement his seven-point agenda.

He said the law and order situation in the country continued to deteriorate.

He deplored the political atmosphere in Sindh where Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and his former cabinet member Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh were levelling corruption allegations against each other.

Dr Sabhiya Mughal, provincial leader of the Khaksar Tehrik Pakistan, alleged that army generals had always harmed the country.

She said Gen Ayoub had sold three rivers to India and blamed Gen Yahya Khan for the dismemberment of the country.

She accused Gen Zia-ul-Haq of introducing the Kalashnikov culture and drugs in the country. He also criticized Gen Musharraf for jailing nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.
