Next Kashmir bus to roll in 10 days despite rebel threats:
SRINAGAR, India, April 11: The second trans-Kashmir bus service between the Indian and Pakistani zones of the Himalayan territory will roll April 21, two weeks after the inaugural run, despite rebel threats to attack the vehicles, officials said Monday. "The next bus will roll April 21," Indian Kashmir's federal passport officer John Shilshi told AFP. Shilshi said a list of more than 100 passengers planning to visit Muzaffarabad in the second bus was given Friday to Pakistani authorities. Gunmen assassinate local official in Iraq's Mosul:
MOSUL, Iraq, April 11: A member of the provincial council in Mosul was shot dead by gunmen outside the city's main hospital, U.S. forces said on Monday. Ajeel Mechisin Ajeel was in his car near Mosul General Hospital on Sunday when a group of armed men leapt from another car parked nearby and shot him. His driver was also killed. U.S. citizens warned as Afghan kidnapping foiled:
KABUL, April 11: The United States has warned its nationals in Afghanistan about dangers including suicide attacks, hijacking and assassination and urged them to keep a low profile. The warning came at the weekend, hours before an American man escaped a kidnapping attempt on Sunday in Kabul's upmarket Wazir Akbar Khan district, which is home to many foreign residents. Israeli troops make incursion into Nablus:
NABLUS, West Bank, April 11: Israeli troops made an incursion early Monday into the centre of Nablus in the north of the West Bank, witnesses said. The soldiers, who arrived aboard some 15 jeeps backed up by a helicopter gunship, surrounded several buildings and called on their residents to get out, apparently looking for wanted Palestinian activists. Thousands riot in China village, 50 police injured:
BEIJING, April 11: Thousands of villagers rioted in eastern China injuring dozens of police after two women among about 200 elderly anti-pollution protesters were killed during efforts by police to disperse them, villagers and officials said on Monday. In the rioting in Huankantou village, Huangtianfan township in the wealthy coastal province of Zhejiang, on Sunday more than 50 policemen were injured and rushed to hospital, with five listed in critical condition, a hospital doctor told Reuters.
