CENTURION (South Africa), April 9: India face four-time winners Australia in the final of the women’s World Cup here on Sunday hoping to succeed where their male counterparts failed two years ago.
Back in 2003, Saurav Ganguly’s Indians were trounced by Australia in the men’s final at The Wanderers in Johannesburg.
But India’s women skipper Mithali Raj believes her team’s position as rank outsiders — they are playing in their first final — could work in their favour against the favourites.
She is also determined to shake off a knee injury to make her mark on the match.—AFP
