Call to give priority to legal education
ISLAMABAD, April 9: President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Qazi Muhammad Jamil said legal education should be given top priority in Access to Justice Programme (AJP) aimed at improving standards of law graduates in the country.

Talking to mediapersons after participating in the workshop on “Access to Justice Development Fund” held here on Saturday, Qazi Jamil said Higher Education Commission should take the issue of legal education on priority basis because it was deteriorating day by day due to worthless legal educational institutions.

He said: “We will have to take effective measures for the success of Access to Justice Programme in the country with the cooperation of Bar Associations being completed with more than Rs1 billion.”

“Construction of buildings and judicial complexes is not enough to ensure justice,” he said.

There is a need to increase vacancies of judges at the level of high courts as well as in the subordinate judiciary to make AJP a success, Qazi Jamil said. — APP
