Assassinated Israeli premier Rabin's grave desecrated: JERUSALEM, April 3: The graves of the assassinated Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and two other historic Jewish figures have been desecrated by vandals who scrawled hate slogans on the tombstones, police said Sunday.One of the slogans written on Rabin's grave in Jerusalem's Mount Herzl cemetery read "Murderous Dog", of a man who came to be hated by the extreme right for signing the Oslo autonomy accords with the Palestinians.He was shot dead at a peace rally in Tel Aviv in November 1995. Two Lithuanians beat deep freeze record: VILNIUS, April 3: A Lithuanian brother and sister emerged from a 12-tonne ice cube Sunday, claiming a record after 63 hours and 31 minutes in deep freeze. Circus veterans Arvydas and Diana Gaiciunas beat the 61 hours and40 minutes that US magician David Blaine spent in a block of ice in 2000, organizers said. GLOBAL MARKETS-Oil hits record high, pressuring stocks: SINGAPORE, April 4 : Oil prices hit a record high on Monday, lifting oil-related stocks but sapping share markets, while the dollar rallied on expectations the U.S. central bank would take a more forceful approach to raising interest rates. Tokyo's Nikkei average fell 0.4 percent, hit by a 2.6 percent slide in retailer Ito-Yokado, but supported by a 4.2 percent jump in Nippon Oil Corp. Prominent Lebanese legislator, wife killed in road accident: BEIRUT, Lebanon April 4: A prominent legislator and his wife were killed late Sunday when their car skidded into the central barrier of a highway in heavy rain, police said Ali Youssef Khalil, who was in his 70s, chaired the parliament's foreign affairs committee and represented Lebanon's southern province. A former Cabinet minister, Khalil supported the government during the current crisis over Syria's troops in Lebanon and the investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri's assassination.
