Pakistan ‘A’ held up by rain

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, April 2: Pakistan ‘A’ were thwarted in their bid to gain useful practice ahead of the two-match ‘Test’ series against Sri Lanka ‘A’ as the two-day tour game against Sri Lanka Academy XI at Moratuwa was overshadowed by rain and bad light.

After a delayed start to the match on Thursday at the Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Sri Lanka Academy struggled to 42 for three once they were invited to bat first by Misbahul Haq, the Pakistan ‘A’.

Then on Friday, Pakistan ‘A’ batted for just 24.2 overs after the home team had been dismissed for 159 in the first innings. The visitors in that time reached 101 for four when further rains arrived to put a stop to the game.

The first four-day fixture between Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Pakistan ‘A’ begins at the Asgiriya International Stadium in Kandy from Sunday. The second game is scheduled for Dambulla from April 10.
