U.S. soldier killed in combat in western Iraq BAGHDAD, March 21 A U.S. soldier has been killed in action in Iraq's western Al Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Monday. The soldier, who was deployed with the 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, died on Sunday, the military said in a statement. It gave few details on grounds that information could help guerrillas and put U.S. troops at greater risk. More than 1,150 U.S. troops have been killed in combat in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003 to topple Saddam Hussein. Iraqi Sunni Arab guerrillas and foreign militants have been fighting to drive out U.S.-led foreign troops and overthrow the U.S.-backed government in Baghdad.
