PESHAWAR, March 20: The government has allocated an amount of Rs123.8 million in the current Annual Development Programme for the promotion of education in South Waziristan Agency. Under the directives of NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman, the Directorate of Education of the Federally Administered Tribal Agency, has taken special measures to spread education in tribal areas, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

The Director of the Directorate of Education, Fata, Abdur Rauf, said the government was striving hard to bring at par South Waziristan Agency to the developed areas of the country. Due to the efforts of the Fata Secretariat, a number of educational institutions have been set up in tribal areas.

In Lower Kanigram area, girls primary school had been upgraded to middle school level, Mr Rauf said. Similarly, a degree college had been established in South Waziristan Agency where inter and degree classes had been started, he added. The government boys primary school in Lower Kanigram area had also been upgraded to middle level. The up-gradation of both the girls and boys primary schools to middle level cost an amount of Rs4 million, he added.—APP
