ISLAMABAD, March 9: President of Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the PM's Secretariat on Wednesday and apprised him of the status of the parliamentary committee report on Balochistan.
They also discussed the organizational matters of the Pakistan Muslim League and the ongoing membership drive of the party. The PML president briefed the prime minister about the relief operations undertaken by the party for the rain and snowfall affected people of Balochistan, NWFP and AJK.
MPs call on PM: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz here on Wednesday asked the parliamentarians to work in their constituencies, as the government had undertaken fundamental reforms to benefit the masses.
The prime minister stated this while talking to separate groups of parliamentarians representing Bahwalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, Lodhran, Khanewal, Pakpattan and Sahiwal here at the PM's Secretariat.
The parliamentarians apprised Mr Aziz about the problems of their constituencies and also discussed with him party matters. Mr Aziz said the government had allocated Rs50 million development fund at the disposal of each member of the National Assembly.
The government, he said, had focussed its attention on provision of gas, electricity, communication and provision of clean drinking water. The government, he said, will never make a promise that it cannot fulfil as it considered that its relationship with the masses must be based on trust and justice.
The prime minister said the government was fully aware of the problems of the common man especially the salaried class and the fixed income groups. Therefore, the government had taken various steps to check inflation. If the government had not imported wheat and urea, the prices of essential items would have gone even further up, he said.
With the improvement of the country's economy, the prime minister said, new job opportunities have been created which will help reduce unemployment in the country. The government, he said, will appoint additional 20,000 lady health visitors throughout the country. The MNAs appreciated the policies of the government and assured Mr Aziz of their support.
