KARACHI: Regularization offer getting response

KARACHI, March 8: The people of the city have shown a positive response to having their irregular constructions legalised under a one-time regularization 2004-05 offer.

A large number of cases have been filed by owners of such buildings to benefit from the regularization scheme, said the Karachi Building Control Authority. The last date for submission of cases for the purpose is March 31, says the KBCA.

March 31 is also the last date for submission of cases for getting illegal shops in the New Sabzi Mandi regularized, informed the KBCA, adding that the master plan for the mandi had been prepared.

The authority has warned owners, builders and developers of all irregular constructions that legal action would be taken against all such constructions on expiry of the date for submission of regularization cases. Meanwhile, the KBCA issued a notice to the owners of a cellular antenna illegally installed on the roof of Al-Raana Square on plot No SC-12, Block H in North Nazimabad.

The KBCA teams also demolished various illegal constructions in various city areas. According to details, illegal walls and columns on the first floor on plot No A-478, Sector F-6 in Mehran Town were demolished.

Another team pulled down the RCC roof and shuttering built on the compulsory open space on plot No A-305, Block-2, Scheme-24. The demolition team dismantled illegal foundations, columns and illegal basement constructions on plot Nos D-114 and D-114/1, while RCC columns, beams, partition walls on plot No C-15, blocks IV and V, and an illegal RCC slab roof and columns of a penthouse on plot No S-2, all in Al-Hilal Society, were also demolished. -APP
