KARACHI, March 5: Opener Kamran Sajid and skipper Moin Khan struck fine centuries as PIA recovered from a disastrous start to reach a respectable 296 in their first innings against Karachi Port Trust in the Patron's Trophy Pool 'A' fixture at the UBL Sports Complex on Saturday.

Kamran, the young left-hander, continued his good run in the championship, with an even 100 in five hours and 12 minutes. Moin, in contrast, blasted 107 off 116 balls in a brilliant display of stroke-play while dominating the 162-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

PIA then completed a good first day's work by sending back former Test left-handed opener Shadab Kabir for a duck as KPT reached six for one in reply.

Having opted to bat first, PIA ran into immediate crisis at 19 for three with Mohammad Hasnain and Nadeem Javed doing the damage with the new ball.

Kamran, however, stood firm at one end and engineered the PIA revival with a 55-run stand for the fifth wicket with Bazid Khan (29). But it was Moin who broke the shackles as he hammered 12 fours and three sixes before offering a catch to his rival skipper Maisam Hasnain off leg-spinner Mansoor Ahmed.

Mansoor later took a return catch to see the back of the solid Kamran, who hit nine boundaries during his 295-ball innings.

Mansoor, extracting fair amount of turn, grabbed six for 95 in 27 overs to follow his nine-wicket haul against ZTBL at the same venue earlier in the week.
