Five killed, 16 injured in railway accident: ISLAMABAD, Mar 5: Five people were killed and 16 injured when the rear carriage of a passenger train derailed and overturned today, police said. The accident happened between the towns of Norawal and Sheikphura, a senior police officer in the area, Shahid Iqbal, told AFP. Traffic on the line was suspended as the wreckage was cleared away. Authorities kills two al Qaeda suspects, arrests 11: MIRANSHAH, Mar 05: Soldiers killed two foreign al Qaeda suspects and arrested 11 people today in a remote northern village bordering Afghanistan, senior officials said. The militants were hiding in Devgar village in North Waziristan, a senior official said on condition of anonymity. "Two foreign militants were killed in the exchange of gunfire with the security forces. Eleven others, including at least three foreigners, were arrested," he said. Government to seize heavy weapons not surrendered by tribesmen: official - PESHAWAR, Mar 05: Authorities will seize heavy weapons belonging to tribesmen near the Afghan border if they are not surrendered in a government buy-back program meant to disarm militants in the region, a security official said today. The government wants to purchase anti-aircraft guns, missiles, mortars, rocket launchers, landmines, hand-grenades, light machineguns and assault rifles from tribesmen, Brigadier Mehmood Shah, security chief of tribal areas, told AFP. "We are waiting a response from tribesmen and if no one comes up to sell these weapons then we will work out a strategy to confiscate them," Shah said. "A committee has been set up in each tribal region to execute the government's policy on keeping such lethal arms away from the people," he said. Taliban down but not out, coalition general says: KABUL, Mar 05: Afghanistan's Taliban insurgents are "down but not out" after failing to mount any significant attacks in recent months, the acting head of the US-led coalition said. Iran threatens to break off nuclear talks if no progress is made: MUNICH, Mar 05: The leader of Iran's nuclear programme says Iranian leaders have told the Europeans they will break off talks on Iran's nuclear programme unless there is concrete results in the next few weeks, the German magazine Focus reported today. Hassan Rohani told the magazine the Iranian side can continue with the talks beyond March only if progress is achieved by the middle of the month. Burundi electoral body endorses constitution vote: BUJUMBURA, Mar 05: Burundi's independent electoral commission endorsed the final results of the country's first democratic poll in 12 years, saying that 90.1 percent of voters had approved a new constitution. At least 8 dead, 34 injured as Thai boat sinks: BANGKOK, Mar 05: A passenger boat carrying 50 to 60 people, mostly Thais, capsized today as it headed to the southern resort province of Phang Nga, killing at least eight people, police and rescue workers said. About 34 passengers were injured and the rest were still missing, they said.
