PCB to promote quality cricket

KARACHI, March 4: Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan declared on Thursday that revival of quality cricket in the educational institutions and at club level was his mission.

"It is school, club and colleges from where talented and promising players emerge on the scene" he said at a reception hosted by KCCA in honour of 11-departmental teams now taking part in Patrons Trophy.

Shaharyar said during the past 14 months after taking over as the PCB boss, cricket was promoted at all levels. "In future local selectors will pick local teams. Our selectors pick the boys on merit" PCB chief said.

Sindh Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor called for job security and regular jobs for players and end to ad hocism and suggested for raising teams with a three tier system at "A","B" and "C" level. -APP
