KARACHI, March 1: A large number of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) supporters from Malir including women and children on Tuesday held a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club against the government's failure to arrest assassins of slain MPA Abdullah Murad.
Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the provincial government, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and its self-exiled leader Altaf Hussain, protestors demanded the authorities to perform their responsibilities honestly.
They chanted slogans against the Sindh governor, MQM chief Altaf Hussain, and President Pervez Musharraf, holding them responsible for the assassination of PPP MPA Abdullah Murad.
Speaking on the occasion, relatives and family members of the slain MPA criticized the government for its failure to arrest and punish his killers. They alleged that his killers were present in the rank and file of the provincial government.
They charged that the Sindh governor and the political party supporting him was a "group of terrorists", and demanded the federal government and authorities to protect the people of Sindh from them.
They called the late Abdullah Murad as 'Malir's Bhutto', and vowed to continue struggle for his killers' arrest. The protestors later dispersed peacefully amid chanting slogans against the provincial government and its component parties. - PPI
