FTA talks with US

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: Commerce Secretary Tasneem Noorani has left for the United States to discuss the status of Pakistan's request for a free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.

An official told Dawn on Saturday that the secretary would start formal talks with US trade representatives on the proposed FTA.

President Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Washington requested the US president for initiating a dialogue on the

FTA. The US has yet to fix a date for the talks on FTA with Pakistan.

According to the official, the commerce secretary would also discuss measures for increasing Pakistan's exports to the US.
