KARACHI, Feb 24: An anti-terrorism court put off hearing of the Masjid Ali Raza bomb blast case against a worker of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi after recording statements of two prosecution witnesses.
Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of the ATC-5 fixed Feb 28 for the next hearing after special public prosecutor Mazhar Qayyum examined two medico-legal officers of the Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre and Civil Hospital - Dr Abdul Razzaq soomro and Dr Imran Server.
As many as 25 faithful had been killed and 37 others injured on May 31 last year when a suicide bomber blew himself inside the Masjid Ali Raza, located at the Old Numaish.
Accused Gul Hasan, arrested on June 13, is stated to have been the mastermind of bomb blasts at Haideri Mosque and Imambargah Ali Raza. He is alleged to have planned the attacks with absconding accused that included Asif Chuto and Mufti Obaid.
Dr Soomro stated that he conducted autopsies on the bodies of Danish Moosa, syed Waqar Ali, Syed Muhstaq Hussain, Ghulam Abbas and an unknown person at different imambargahs.
Dr Serwer deposed that he was called at the hospital around 7:45pm. He said he attended six injured of the blast and one of them later died. The doctor stated that later on June 1 he conducted autopsies on the bodies of Mohammad Suleman, Ghulam Abbas, Syed Ghazanfar Abbas, Israr Hussain and an unkown person. Defence counsel Mushtaq Ahmed also cross examined the two prosecution witnesses.
