KARACHI: Teachers seek deployment of Rangers

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 22: Teachers at Sindh Muslim Government Arts and Commerce College resolved to continue their boycott of teaching activities till the deployment of Rangers at the college.

A source in the college said that teachers on Tuesday held a protest meeting against the incident of manhandling of a senior teacher of the college by three activists of a students body about a week back. It was observed in the meeting that students in question should apologise for their behaviour.

It was resolved in the meeting that teachers would continue their protest till security was not provided to teachers and rangers were deployed on a permanent basis. Classes were resumed for a short period in the morning at the college on Tuesday.

In the meantime, it is learnt that a meeting of college principals with home minister and police officials is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss measures for a peaceful academic atmosphere at colleges.
