ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: The National Tariff Commission (NTC) has sought proposals, suggestions from all the stakeholders for revising upward the rate of customs duty on import of crude palm oil (CPO).
An official announcement issued on Monday said that the matter was referred to the NTC by Central Board of Revenue (CBR) at the request of the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturer's Association (PVMA).
The NTC invited views, suggestions and proposals from all parties having an interest in the business relating to or associated with the imports, refining, processing, manufacturing and marketing of oilseeds and/or edible oils including user industries such as oleo chemicals, soaps, detergents etc. The views might be sent within three days to the secretary, NTC, Islamabad.
According to the announcement, a public hearing was scheduled on March 3, 2005 at 11:00 am in the NTC. All interested parties might attend this hearing and bring their comments and suggestions in writing.
The comments and suggestions might be supported with essential facts, information and supporting evidence, which must be brought to the public hearing and the views not supported with reliable documentary evidence would not be considered, added the announcement.
