KARACHI: Hearing of relieved nazims' plea put off

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 9: The Sindh High Court adjourned on Wednesay the hearing of a petition moved by the relieved nazims of the four bifurcated districts to Thursday.

Additional Advocate-General M. Ahmed Pirzada informed the division bench seized of the petition that Advocate-General Anwar Mansoor Khan was busy before another bench and requested adjournment.

The AG was to seek instructions from the provincial government on a compromise formula allowing the petitioners to complete their tenure as nazims of the four new districts carved out of the old ones wherein they were registered as voters. The petitioners signified their assent to the proposal during Tuesday's proceedings.

According to official sources, the arrangement is not acceptable to the government.
