KARACHI: Drive against illegal weapons ordered


KARACHI, Feb 6: Sindh IGP Kamal Shah has directed all the town and district police officers to launch a drive in the province for seizing illegal weapons before the advent of Muharram.

In his directives issued to CCPO and RPOs of Hyderabad and Sukkur on Sunday, the IG stressed on foolproof security for the month.

He ordered the officers to compile the lists of absconders, proclaimed offenders and terrorists in their respective areas, and provide the same to the police stations and ensure their arrest before the start of Muharram.

He further directed them to constitute peace committees at town and district levels, consisting of religious leaders and scholars of all schools of thought for maintaining peace in their areas.

As regards recovery of weapons, the IGP asked the officials to seek the services of CID, Special Branch and the intelligence collection units set up at police station level.-PPI
