KARACHI, Feb 6: Sindh Home Minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui on Sunday asked his department officials to take measures for the early release of prisoners who were jailed for minor crimes.
He was speaking at the function, organized to hand over an ambulance to Central Prison Karachi. The minister said that the government had already released more than 1,000 persons involved in minor crimes on payment of surety money of two million rupees by philanthropists.
Rauf Siddiqui pointed out that the government was creating separate barracks for special persons in prison with the cooperation of philanthropists. He said that cement and blocks for the construction of barracks would be provided to the central prison.
Among others, IG Prison and Jail Superintendent were present on the occasion. -APP
