KARACHI: Three die in road accidents

KARACHI, Feb 6: Three persons died and five others were wounded in two separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Sunday.

On Hub River Road, two persons died and five others were injured in an accident. Police said that a passenger coach (PE-2518) and a private car (AFM-751) collided head on near Murshid Hospital. They said that Hameed, 35, and his niece Khadija, 10, died on the spot while the girl's parents Musarat Shaheen and Wazir Gul survived the accident with injuries. The injured were rushed to the nearby Murshid Hospital where the couple was provided treatment, police added.

Three passenger of the coach, Mohammad Bilal, Saeed and Huzaifa were also shifted to the hospital for treatment. Police detained errant driver of the coach who reportedly suffered minor injuries.

On Mauripur Road, a custom official, Ali Akhtar, was hit and injured. Police said that Ali Akhtar was on his motorcycle when an unknown speeding vehicle knocked him down near Gul Bai. He was taken to the Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified man was found from the University Road in Gulistan-i-Jauhar police limits on Sunday. Police said that the body was trussed up and three bullets were pumped into his head. Apparently, assailants had dumped the body from a moving car near Hussain Arcade. The victim who was in his mid 20's could not be identified. The body was shifted to the JPMC for autopsy examination.
