By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 5: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts on Saturday organized a fund-raising art event to make contributions towards the president's tsunami relief fund.

The so-called "Art bazaar" exhibited the paintings by well-known artists in addition to the artworks by up-and-coming young artists.

According to PNCA director Amin-e-Ajam, over 15 artists, including Qudsia Nisar, Aftab Zafar, Nahid Raza, Mansoor Zuberi and Shahid Rassam, were exhibiting their works at the fund-raising event. He explained that the artists would give 25 per cent of their sales to the president's tsunami relief fund.

Visitors to the PNCA were requested to deposit at least Rs25 in a box.

Apart from the paintings, which were exhibited in the courtyard of the PNCA building, some sculptures were placed in the centre of the main hall. Foodstuffs were available in one corner of the courtyard where art bric-a-brac was also on sale.

Well-known flutist Salamat Hussain played his instrument as artists and visitors exchanged notes.
