SUKKUR, Jan 31: More than 70 people were arrested by the police in various villages of Jacobabad and Shikarpur districts on Monday in connection with the kidnapping of two employees of a Shaikh of Abu Dhabi.
Heavy contingents of police conducted raids on the Golimar area near Kandhkot and arrested Majid Suhriani who is son of an influential man Khaliq Suhriani. The police conducted raids on various villages in the area but failed to recover Dil Mir and Manzoor.
Some of the arrested people include Jaffer Suhriani, Nazar Suhriani, Qamar Malik, Allah Wadhayo, Baiguddin Sabzoi, Dhani Bux Sabzoi and Sher Mohammad Bachkani. The police conducted a raid on Lashari village in the Dakhan police area and conducted house to house search.
About 50 people were arrested during the raid. They were identified as Arshad, Nawaz, Naveed, Siraj, Manzoor, Raees, Maula Bux, Zakir Hussain, Ali Haider, Fida Hussain and Fakir Mohammad. The police recovered four guns from the villages.
ATC: The anti-terrorism court-II, Sukkur and Larkana, on Monday sentenced eight accused to undergo three times life imprisonment for kidnapping for ransom.
Ghani Khoso, Habib Khoso, Fazal Panhwar, Hameed Domki, Mehboob Khoso, Nawab Jakhrani, Saeed Jakhrani and Mojlo Jakhrani had kidnapped Ahmed Yar Khoso and Zulfiqar Sadhayo in the Abad police area in Jacobabad district on Aug 14 and released them after getting a ransom.
The police arrested Abdul Ghani, Habibullah and Fazal while the remaining five were absconding. After hearing the case, the court convicted and sentenced all the eight accused to undergo three times life imprisonment and fine of Rs50,000 each. The court ordered to forfeit property of all the accused.
JUDGES: The president of the People's Party Parliamentarians, Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has called upon the Sindh government to pay for the treatment of additional judges as it paid ransom for their release.
Speaking at a press conference in Ghotki on Sunday night, he urged the government to hold elections and hand over the power to democratic forces to resolve the issues.
He said the situation of Sui was a result of government's action as it was trying to solve the problems through the use of force. He said it had been decided in the central committee that those leaders who deceived the party before or after the elections would not be allowed back in the party.
