LAHORE, Jan 31: Ravi Town Nazim Amer Munir has resigned as Lahore chapter vice-president of the ruling PML, says a statement issued here on Monday.
Mr Munir said he was dispatched the resignation to the Lahore PML chief as well as the Punjab chief minister, who is also provincial head of the party, it adds.
"The reason (behind this step) is the torture of my family by the present government in a corruption case against me." The town Nazim, who has reportedly fled the country, alleged that he avoided surrender for the fear of being pressed to give statements against District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood.
The release would not say who was to press him for the purpose.
