KARACHI: Sealed mosques to be opened soon: minister

KARACHI, Jan 27: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Ahmed Siddiqui has said that 35 sealed mosques in Karachi would be reopened soon. He was presiding over a high-level meeting, which reviewed the issue of controversial mosques, in his office here on Thursday.

The meeting decided that a committee comprising representatives from all sects would be formed to chalk out a code of conduct with regard to the affairs of mosques and other religious institutions. MNA Mohammad Hussain Mahenti has been appointed as the chairman of the committee.

The meeting also decided that members of the committee would personally visit each of the disputed/sealed mosque and would help resolve the problems. The minister was of the view that unless these mosques were physically inspected, the issue could not be resolved. -PPI
