GUJRANWALA, Jan 20: The district crime control committee expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation procedure of police and torturing of innocent people at police stations without registration of any case against them.

A committee meeting on Thursday, presided over by district and session judge Javed Iqbal Siddiqi, the participants said the investigation officers did not perform their duty honestly and diligently. They arrest innocent people and torture them at police stations without registration of any case against them to show their efficiency.

The meeting warned that this practice should be stopped otherwise action would be taken against police officials indulging in such practices.

The meeting urged the police authorities to ensure production of accused before courts at 8am by the jail staff. They said the jail staff used to bring the accused at 11am as a result of which courts could not complete hearing of their cases which caused delay in announcement of decision.
