GUJRANWALA, Jan 20: Around 65 housing colonies were blacklisted while cases were sent to court for legal action by Sadar tehsil council here on Thursday.

A tehsil council meeting presided over by Tehsil Nazim Capt Mubasher Ahmad Cheema (retired) reviewed and scrutinized the record of housing colonies and declared them as illegal.

It recommended that these housing colonies should be blacklisted and sent the cases against their owners to court for legal action.

The meeting was told that owners of these housing colonies purchased agricultural land in throwaway prices and sold it at high rates.

These housing colonies were established on Sheikhupura Road, Khiali By-pass Intersection, Chand Da Qila By-pass Intersection, Hafizabad Road, Sialkot Road, Rawalpindi By-pass Intersection, Eminabad, Gondlanwala Road and other areas.

The meeting gave an approval for the construction of about 20 more development schemes during the current year. The meeting was informed that about half a dozen schemes were already completed with an expenditure of Rs30 million under the citizens community board during the last fiscal year.
