Musarrat holding office illegally: Saleem

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 12: Saleem Nazim, the associate secretary of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), alleged on Wednesday that the secretary Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan was occupying the office unconstitutionally.

"There is no place for him (Musarrat). He has no constitutional right to continue as secretary since he does not have representation from any part of the country or from any department. That's a gross violation of PHF constitution," he alleged.

Saleem said since the secretary had retired from Army, the organization was being represented by Brig Arif Siddiqui at PHF meetings and Maj Ayaz attended Dec 28 Council meeting on behalf of the brigadier.

"While the team continued giving such poor performances during four years, the secretary was busy in throwing away funds. PHF produced more than 100 coaches while the pool of players kept on shrinking," he opined.

Saleem claimed he was the chairman of the PHF coaching committee when foreign coach Roelant Oltmans was hired in Dec 2003 for one year but the secretary neither took him into confidence nor disclosed how much amount was spent on engaging the Dutchman.
