By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Jan 12: An alleged robber was killed in an encounter while his four accomplices escaped on Wednesday in Danabad village.

Police claimed that Jaranwala ASP Sheikh Naeem received an information about the presence of some proclaimed offenders in a village den.

A police party rushed to the spot and besieged the area. Fearing their arrest, the outlaws opened fire on police which was returned. During the shootout, one of the bandits died instantly while his four accomplices beat a retreat.

RETURNS: A minor boy, who was kidnapped for ransom some four days ago, returned his home on Wednesday. Hamza Ahmed (8), son of trader M. Amin of Liaquat Town, was abducted when he was going to school on Saturday last. The kidnappers demanded Rs1 million ransom. Amin informed the police but they failed to trace the abductors.

On Wednesday, the father of Hamza informed the police that someone had asked him by phone to take his son from a deserted place in Khurrianwala. Amin said that he along with some of his relatives and friends rushed to the place and found Hamza waiting there. The police recorded the statement of Hamza and his father so that the kidnappers could be traced.
