PHF chief invites Olympians

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 9: Newly-installed chief of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Tariq Kirmani has invited Olympians on Thursday to seek their suggestions for the promotion of the game, saying success only comes through team work.

In an invitation letter delivered to Olympians, the new PHF boss has emphasised on reviving the game which only comes through team work and what he called 'group dynamics'.

"I believe that success of a nation, company, or an institution lies in group dynamics and team work through which miracles occur. To attain this goal I will try my utmost to inculcate and encourage team spirit with all stakeholders in this game," he wrote to Olympians inviting them at a luncheon.

"During the last decade our hockey scene has been less than encouraging and inspiring, not befitting the stature of the national game that had been taken to zenith by our national heroes like you bringing in laurels. I would not doubt need good wishes and support of friends like you.

"Your suggestions and organizational tips on nurturing and grooming the talent of our youth will be strength I can count upon to bring hockey glory back," he wrote.

Tariq, who took over the charge on Jan 5 after Gen Aziz Khan quit on Dec 28, had ruled out immediate removal of secretary Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan, saying he would take decisions after thorough study of the scenario and feed backs. It will be first interaction of Tariq with experts after taking over as new PHF president.
