KARACHI, Jan 2: Pakistan's largest sea festival will be held on the Clifton beach from Jan 7 to 9. An announcement to this effect was made in an official statement here on Saturday.
It said that the theme of the Sindh Sea Festival will be "Save the Environment". The festival is a project of the government of Sindh in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy.
The statement further said the event would have a number of attractions, including a cultural and an agricultural village, as well as the fishing and the naval villages. A folk music festival will highlight some of the best folk talent of Sindh.
A grand firework would also be the part of the event, it was further stated. A monument of Sindh will be inaugurated by the governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, on the last day of the festival. Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim will also visit the gestival.
CITY GOVT: DCO Karachi Fazlur Rehman has directed the district oficer for civil defence to take all measures to ensure vigorous participation of the city government in Jan 7-9 Sea Festival.
At a meeting held under his chairmanship, it was decided that the city government would organize its floats to highlight the significance of the event. It was decided that the city government would set up a camp at the Sea view, where the festival events would be held, for the purpose of coordination and public convenience.
The DCO directed that steps be taken for the provision of necessary facilities to people coming to witness the festival events. In order to attract the children, it was decided to keep zoo animals in cages at the festival venue. - APP
