LAHORE: Amir Munir's bail extended

By Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Dec 23: An Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday extended by another day the interim bail of Ravi Town Nazim Amer Munir who is allegedly involved in the plunder of national exchequer.

The anti-corruption court had granted him bail till Dec 23 after the expiry of his interim bail by the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court. Amer Munir and six other town officials, three of them still absconding, are accused of embezzling millions of rupees of development funds by making unlawful payments in the heads of streetlight items, bogus contracts and collection of receipts against fictitious challan books.

Meanwhile, Mr Amir appeared before ACE chief Brig Aslam Ghuman (retired) for the first time since he is nominated in the case and denied allegations against him.
