PESHAWAR: Students call for revival of study tours

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Dec 21: The Pakhtun Student Federation, Islamia College's chapter, has demanded revival of study tours and keeping all college hostel gates open at night.

Speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday, PkSF senior vice-president Tariq Afghan threatened that if their problems were not resolved within three days they would be forced to launch a protest movement.

He said his party had proposed to the college administration to convene a meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association and resolve the issues of earlier closer of hostel gates and resumption of long study tours.

However, he said, the administration was not interested in resolution of our problems. He recalled when students tried to meet the college principal to apprise him of their problems on Dec 14, they were stopped by the police who also resorted to baton-charge and tear gas.

About 22 students were also arrested, he added. It was the college administration which provoked the students who later damaged window-panes in the hostels, he alleged.
