$10m deal signed

SHANGHAI, Dec 17: A $10 million contract was signed by a private Pakistani firm with a public-sector Chinese firm on Friday at a function organized by the mayor of Shanghai for Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Officials accompanying the prime minister told Dawn that the contract was signed between SVA China and RUBA Pakistan. They added that under the agreement a firm for joint production of plastic products would be established.

They said the project would be completed by 2005. They said that RUBA Pakistan was already working in partnership with Haier Pakistan. Later, Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng hosted a banquet for Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
