Advani involved in Babri mosque demolition: NEW DELHI, Dec 16: The BJP president Mr L.K Advani and other government leaders were regularly fully briefed daily in connection with the demolition of the historic Babri Mosque. This was stated in the Lucknow bench of the Allahbad high court. This was stated by the Counsel of the CBI. Mr Advani had prior knowledge that the Babri Masjid at Ayudhiya is going to be demolished. He said that then additional superintendent of police Fasizabad regularly briefed Mradvani and other VHP leaders about what is taking place inside the disputed complex. (PPI) (Posted @ 14:25 PST) Osama Bin Laden alive, releases audio tape: DUBAI, Dec 16: An audio recording purportedly by Osama bin Laden, in which he mentions a Dec. 6 attack in Saudi Arabia, was posted on the Internet today. The recording, in which bin Laden blesses a group of Saudi militants who stormed the U.S. consulate in Jeddah, suggests the al Qaeda leader was still alive. The tape was not dated and its authenticity could not be verified. "We ask God to be merciful with the mujahideen who stormed the U.S. consulate in Jeddah," said the voice on the tape, which sounded similar to previous bin Laden recordings. Four killed, police chief survives in landmine blast in Afghanistan: ISLAMABAD, Dec 16: At least four policemen were killed and two others injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in Khost Province today, the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) said. (DPA) (Posted @ 11:10 PST) Jailed Saddam Hussein Meets Lawyer for First Time: BAGHDAD, Dec 16: Saddam Hussein saw a lawyer today for the first time since his arrest a year ago, days after his attorneys protested over lack of access to him or other detained former Iraqi officials, the defense team said. "The interview lasted for more than 4 hours. The president seems in good health, much better compared to his first appearance before the court," the Amman-based legal team said in a statement emailed to news agencies. "The president appreciated his defense committee efforts." A spokesman for the team said one of its 20 members had visited Saddam, but declined to identify the individual. Saddam's lawyers said earlier this week they did not recognize the Iraqi interim government's efforts to try the ousted president or his deputies because they had been denied access to counsel. Lawyers had also not able to see documents on which to prepare their defenses. The US embassy has "credible information that terrorist groups are developing near-term plans for attacks against unspecified targets in Kuwait," the US embassy said in a warden message circulated to American nationals in the emirate. The last six hostages held by the hijackers filed from the bus in an Athens suburb followed by police entering the vehicle and arresting the two hijackers.
