PESHAWAR, Dec 15: Effective teaching not only touches the mind but also the soul of students. It arouses creativity and inculcates self-confidence among introvert children.
Effective teaching always appeals to finer aspects of children and sharpens their thinking power. Most teachers unfortunately are unable to capture the mind and heart of students.
Corporal punishment kills creativity and damages the personality of a child. A sensible teacher can read his students' inner world through their facial expression. Education demands full dedication and sincerity to the profession.
These views were expressed by Rauf Jamil, Principal Islamia Collegiate School, here on Wednesday at the Peshawar Public School & College, Warsak Road while delivering a lecture entitled "Effective teaching".
The lectures was a part of series of seminars and lectures being arranged for the benefits of the faculty members in order to acquaint them with new practices and theories in education.
Mr Jamil maintained, most of the teachers do not encourage their students to put questions due to which they remain passive and covert throughout their student life.
He said that it was the responsibility of the teachers to create a conducive atmosphere for their students so that they could feel secure and confident. "Harsh attitude never produces fruitful results; rather it creates reaction and sense of alienation among the learners," he said.
