SUKKUR: Policeman killed in encounter

SUKKUR, Dec 12: A policeman was killed and three others, one of them a DSP, were injured in an encounter with highwaymen on the National Highway near Ubauro on Saturday.

When a bus going to Punjab reached near the Shahanshah petrol pump, a group of bandits signalled it to stop. The bandits opened fire when the driver did not stop the bus.

In the meantime, a police team reached the place and the armed men opened fire on the team which returned the fire. The encounter lasted half an hour during which the police constable Ghulam Mustafa Mochi was killed while three others, including Ubauro DSP Rana Sanaullah, police constables Saleem Malik and Irshad Mangi were injured.

Ghotki DPO Aftab Halepoto rushed to the spot and shifted injured policemen to Ubauro taluka hospital from where they were referred to the Rahim Yar Khan hospital.
