KARACHI: Councillors' group vows to strive for honorarium


KARACHI, Dec 12: Opposition leader in the City Council Siddique Rathor, who is head of the Al-Khadim Group, and his deputy Mehfuzun Nabi, said that the elected house would complete its tenure.

"The system is protected by law and no one would succeed in sabotaging the system,'' they contended. They were speaking at the well-attended councillors' convention held in a local hotel. Taluka Nazim of Hyderabad City Moin Shaikh was the chief guest.

Mr Rathor asserted that honorarium was the basic right of every councillor. He vowed to continue the struggle for the honorarium and other dues of payable to the members of the city council.

Speaking on the occasion, Moin Shaikh expressed full support to the councillors' demand for resolution of their problems. In this regard, he said, councillors in entire Sindh had been looking to this convention.

Nazim of Mirpurkhas Town Javed Papa and Iftekhar Ahmed Arain welcomed the holding of the convention and expressed the hope that councillors would soon start receiving their due honorarium. The credit of this achievement would go to the Al-Khadim Group and its chairman, he added.

Vice-Chairman of the group Mohammad Wazir Rahbar and Mehfoozun Nabi told the audience that they were making all out efforts for the resolution of all problems being faced by councillors.

This convention, they said, marked the formal launching of the struggle which would continued until the issuance of the notification for the release of the honorarium for councillors. - PPI
