Pervaiz calls on Manmohan Singh

NEW DELHI, Dec 7: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi called on Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh here on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Indian premier said: "We are sincere and serious in taking the ongoing peace process forward between the two sides."

He said there were ample opportunities to foster cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including agriculture, medical, education and the economic sector.

Pervaiz Elahi said during his visit to Amritsar, Chandigarh, Punjab and New Delhi, he observed that there was a strong desire among the people for good and friendly ties between the two countries.

A lunch was hosted in his honour by Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in Gurgaon. On Monday, Pervaiz Elahi held meetings with Foreign Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit. -APP
