PU asked to work with Bangladesh varsities

LAHORE, Dec 6: A Bangladesh delegation led by deputy speaker Akhtar Hameed Siddiqui has called upon the Punjab University to collaborate with Bangladeshi universities in research on problems like ecology and irrigation system of both countries.

The delegation met the university officials led by Vice Chancellor Arshad Mahmood on the New Campus on Monday and exchanged views on the farming and political systems of both the countries.

Mr Mahmood briefed the delegation about the university's academic departments, new programmes and constituent and affiliated colleges. He said the university was planning to restructure the faculties by creating more posts of deans.

The university was selecting PhD topics in view of national requirements, he added. PU registrar Masudul Haq, political science department's assistant professor Ambreen Javed were also present on the occasion.

The Bangladesh delegation comprised parliament members Khaleequddin and Riasat Ali Biswas, additional secretary Rizwan Jamaluddin and deputy secretary Anwar Farooq. Earlier, the VC visited the Hailey College of Commerce and got filled the teachers performance evaluation forms by the students.
