Nawab Marri, three sons convicted

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Nov 20: An anti-terrorism court, Quetta, has sentenced Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, his three sons and another person to three-year imprisonment each and ordered confiscation of their property for not appearing before the trial court in a subversive act case.

Judge Muhammad Shaukat Rakshani on Saturday sentenced Nawab Marri, Nawabzada Chengaiz Marri, Nawabzada Hairbair Marri, MPA Nawabzada Balaach Marri and Jabir Marri in the landmine case. Naib Nazim Kohlu Mir Chengaiz Marri and Abdul Qadir, agriculture department officer, were killed in the blast.

The court announced their punishment for not appearing before the court despite many notices to face the case.

Earlier, police had arrested Fateh Khan Marri, Baloch Khan Marri and Salimen Marri in the case, alleging that they had planted a landmine which killed two people.
