PPP hopeful of Asif's early release

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Nov 20: People's Party Parliamentarians leaders expressed the hope on Saturday that former senator Asif Ali Zardari would be released soon because the government had failed to prove his involvement in any case during trials and investigations over eight years.

They said it had been proved that Mr Zardari was not involved in any irregularities. They said the detention of the PPP leader was an example of political victimization.

The participants of the meeting discussed the prevailing situation and their participation in a movement if the party leadership gave a call in this regard.

They said progress and prosperity were linked with the restoration of real democracy.

They criticized those who had supported the incumbent regime and undemocratic order in the country.

They said parliament should be supreme and the prime minister should run the government in the democratic system but currently the president was dominating all the affairs of the state.

District PPP President Manafat Khan, and the chief of the local chapter of the People's Lawyers' Forum, Javad Inqilabi, spoke at the meeting.
